Denis is founding Partner and Director of Quantity Surveying of Carron + Walsh. Heading up Carron + Walsh’s Quantity Surveying operation, Denis has over 20 years consultancy experience with specialist knowledge of Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, Feasibility Studies, Procurement Advice, Risk Management, Whole Life Costing and Cashflow Modelling to the Construction Sector both in Ireland and internationally.

Denis is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland, and held the position of Director within Nolan Ryan Tweeds, part of the WYG group of businesses prior to establishing Carron + Walsh in 2010.

With diverse construction experience gained in Ireland, Australia & the Middle East, Denis has an in-depth understanding of the procurement of buildings in all industry sectors and is involved in many public and private commercial developments.

Marian Walsh

Marian is a founding Partner and Director of Carron + Walsh.

Operating as Director of Project Controls & Project Management, Marian brings her expertise to the full range of Carron + Walsh service offerings to the Construction Sector in Ireland and internationally, where she has engaged in projects in the USA, UK, Europe and Australia.

Prior to establishing Carron + Walsh in 2010, Marian held the position of Director of Project Management within Nolan Ryan Tweeds, part of the WYG group of businesses.

With over twenty years’ experience in the construction industry in Ireland & internationally, Marian has acquired significant knowledge and expertise in the areas of project & program management best practice, governance, program audit, project controls, contract administration, cost engineering, project planning, estimating, and risk management.

Elaine Brazil

Elaine joined Carron + Walsh as a Senior Consultant in 2016 and has progressed to Associate Director and Director. With fourteen years’ post graduate experience in the industry, Elaine has significant experience in project management, programming, and scheduling of complex construction projects in Ireland, Australia, Belgium, Holland, and the USA. She is also experienced in claims and dispute resolution. Elaine graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management and Engineering from SETU and earned PMP accreditation in 2019. Elaine has been instrumental in driving the expansion of our Project Management division.

Nigel Cusack

Qualifications

Nigel joined Carron + Walsh as a Senior Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2011 and has earned promotions to Associate Director, Regional Director, and Director. Having qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2005, Nigel went on to complete a Level 9 Certificate in MEP Quantity Surveying and ACEI Certificate in Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP). With over twenty-two years’ experience in the construction industry, Nigel has acquired significant experience in all sectors of public and private procurement and construction; and continues to lead the development of the specialist MEP Quantity Surveying division within Carron + Walsh.

Colin Harney

Qualifications

MSCSI MRICS, MCIArb, BSc (Hons) Construction Economics and Management (TU), P. Grad. Dip. Construction Law and Contract Administration (TCD)

Colin joined Carron + Walsh in February 2011 earning a promotion to Associate Director in 2017 and Director in 2023. Colin is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators having acquired experience in dispute resolution and the procurement of civil, commercial, industrial, residential, educational and listed facilities in the Construction Sector in Ireland, the Caucasus area and the Middle East with experience using various forms of contract including the Public Works Contract, RIAI and FIDIC.

Colin has over sixteen years’ experience in the construction industry having graduated with a Degree in Construction Economics and Management from Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street in 2008. Colin has furthered his education completing an Expert Witness course with La Touche Training, becoming a RICS accredited Mediator and completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Law and Contract Administration in Trinity College Dublin.

Colin has gained experience with numerous forms of dispute resolution having been actively involved in Project Boards, Conciliation, Mediation and acting as an Expert Witness in Litigation.

Paul Hegarty

Paul joined Carron + Walsh in 2020 and in his role as a Director leads technical delivery of projects across a number of sectors within the built environment. In addition to supporting business development, Paul also leads our QA delivery within the Practice.

Having over twenty-three years’ experience in the construction industry, in Ireland, the Middle East and Australia, Paul has acquired significant experience in the procurement and contract administration of Rail/Infrastructure and Building projects in the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining Carron + Walsh, Paul held the position of Senior Commercial Manager with WSP, leading a team of Quantity Surveyors in the commercial and contract administration of a €3bn Underground Metro Project in Qatar, from Contractor selection to operational readiness, spanning a period of 6 years.

Paul has also successfully delivered Commercial Office, Retail, Residential, High Rise, Leisure, Healthcare, Education, Industrial/Manufacturing, Public Realm and Infrastructure projects.

Alan O'Connor

Alan joined Carron + Walsh as a Senior Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2013 and has been a key member of the cost management team ever since, becoming an Associate Director in 2017 and Director in 2023. With over twenty years post graduate experience in the industry Alan has been instrumental in the growth of Carron + Walsh helping to grow the practice across a number of sectors. Alan is experienced in all aspects of construction development, from inception to completion, for both private and public sector clients.

Tadhg joined Carron + Walsh as an Associate Director and was promoted to Director in 2023. He has over 20 years’ experience in cost management and administration across both private and public sectors project. Tadhg has been involved in the delivery of a diverse range of projects including commercial, infrastructure, retail, residential, cultural, leisure and mixed used from inception through to operation. He has held senior positions in both professional practice and main contracting organisations during his career in Ireland, New Zealand, and the UK. Tadhg is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Fellow of the SCSI and RICS and holds a degree in Quantity Surveying, a Masters in Construction Project Management and an LLM in Construction Law and Practice.

Michael Higgins

Michael joined Carron + Walsh as an Associate Director in 2011 and was promoted to the position of Regional Director and Technical Director. Having over 26 years’ experience in the industry Michael has significant experience in the procurement of industrial, commercial, historic, and public buildings. Michael qualified with a Degree in Construction Economics and Management in 1997 and qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2000. Michael is also qualified in the area of Conservation Surveying and has gained significant experience in planned and reactive maintenance and refurbishment of properties.

John Kehoe

John joined Carron + Walsh as a Senior Project Manager in 2020 and has been a key member in developing the project management division of the business. John has eight years post graduate experience in the industry, having graduated with a BSc Honours Degree in Construction Management from Munster Technological University in 2016 and achieved MCIOB Chartership in 2022. John is experienced in all aspects of construction development, from inception to completion, for both private and public sector clients. John is now heavily involved in our overseas work in the Middle East and is helping to develop this arm of the business.

Paul Marren

Qualifications

BEng (Hons) in Civil & Transportation Engineering

Paul joined Carron + Walsh in 2023 having acquired over 14 years’ construction industry experience in Australia, Spain, and Ireland. During his 6 years in Australia, Paul held leadership roles in both main contracting and client-side organisations, delivering projects in civil infrastructure, mining, and healthcare. Upon his return to Ireland in 2016 Paul joined one of Irelands leading Tier 1 main contractors where he delivered a variety of large-scale healthcare, residential, educational, and pharmaceutical projects in both Ireland and Spain.

Paul has gained knowledge of contract management, design development, risk management, programme and process management, and on-site construction delivery. He has a keen interest in buildability assessment, value engineering, lean construction, logistics planning and modular construction methods.

Paul has also gained experience in managing and developing large teams, particularly useful for large fast track projects with an extended team where team management and communication are essential. Paul recognises that Project Management is above all about communicating with and managing people.

Paul is proficient in the use of scheduling software including ASTA Powerproject and Microsoft Project and is also experienced in the use of Navisworks and Autodesk AutoCAD. These are essential project management systems that are utilised in Carron + Walsh and supported by our in-house specialists.

Shane Mountain

Shane joined Carron + Walsh in 2022 as a Senior Project Manager. With over 16 years’ experience in the construction industry, he has delivered a diverse array of projects across a range of sectors within the industry. These projects include hospitals & healthcare facilities, manufacturing facilities, residential, educational buildings, energy generation facilities, pharmaceutical & medical devices plants, retail, sports & leisure facilities, and sports stadia. He has held roles within both main contracting organisations and on the client side during his career to date in Ireland, Germany and the UK. Shane is a Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB) and graduated with a BSc. (Hons.) in Construction Management & Engineering from SETU.

Shane Cranny

Shane graduated from the Technological University of Dublin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics having already completed a higher certificate in Mechanical and Electrical Quantity Surveying in 2018. With over 10 years’ experience as a qualified electrician and 7 years as a contractor’s quantity surveyor Shane brings a unique perspective to Carron + Walsh with his extensive knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems coupled with construction, cost engineering and contracting expertise.

Shane’s wide range of construction and engineering experience covering public works buildings, healthcare, residential, retail, commercial, educational, and historic buildings supplements a MEP Cost control dynamic within Carron + Walsh staff portfolio.

An effective cost manager and negotiator both at pre and post contract phase, Shane guides clients through the process of building services engineering and offers suitable and practical value engineering scope to the design team. His extensive knowledge of MEP systems delivers guaranteed value add to every service.

Matthew joined Carron+Walsh as Senior Quantity Surveyor in 2022, having obtained more than 15 years’ experience within the industry with knowledge across procurement and tendering of works, post-contract administration, cost management and value engineering, estimating, change management and settlement of final accounts across a wide range of sectors.

Matthew has spent several years working for multinational Tier 1 main contractors and specialist sub-contractors within the UK, Ireland and Australia. Delivering large scale build, civil and infrastructure projects, which have included High Rise Residential, Sports Stadia, Commercial, Hospital, Education, Retail, Data Centres, Aviation, Industrial and Road Infrastructure, spanning both public and private sector.

Camilla is a qualified quantity surveyor with particular expertise in pre-tender documentation, post-contract administration, value engineering, cost controls, and final accounts as well as experience in the implementation of quality assurance systems.

With in excess of 30 years’ experience, Camilla spent a number of years working in the UK where she has delivered a number of Transport facilities, Potent Water facilities, Civil Infrastructure, Healthcare and Commercial Office projects. More recently in Ireland, Camilla has completed projects within the education, office and data centre sectors.

Aifric graduated from Technological University Dublin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics in 2018. Starting as a 3^rd year placement student with Carron+Walsh in 2017, Aifric has continued to work in the business throughout her final year of studies.

Aifric has supported Senior Team Members and Directors on projects from inception through to completion gaining a wide range of experience. She has worked alongside the team on a range of projects covering public works buildings, healthcare, residential, retail, commercial, educational and historic buildings.

Aifric was elected as an Associate Member of the SCSI in 2020 and RICS in 2021.

Peter Tierney

Peter joined Carron + Walsh in 2024 as an Associate. With 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, Peter has worked for leading contractors within Ireland and in a client-side consultancy firm. Over those years, he has delivered several projects in different sectors from concept to completion. These projects included Public Works and Data centres as well as projects in Healthcare, Commercial, and Residential sectors. Working within these sectors and projects have allowed Peter to gain knowledge of design development, contract administration, value engineering and programme management and off-site manufacturing.

In 2020, Peter completed a diploma in Construction Law from The Law Society of Ireland, further developing his knowledge in all aspects relating to law within the construction industry in Ireland.

Julie Conway

Julie graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics in 2021 following her completion of the part-time programme. She is now in the process of becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

While completing her studies Julie gained a broad range of experience over a five year period with a private quantity surveying practice. This enabled her development of a strong skill base in cost management, procurement, and tendering. Since joining Carron + Walsh in 2021 Julie has worked on projects focused on residential, refurbishment, and public works, supporting senior team members and directors, from point of inception to completion. This experience compliments her existing knowledge in the education and commercial sectors.

Sarah joined the Carron and Walsh team in 2023. Sarah graduated from the Master of Quantity Surveying programme at the Technological University Dublin (TUD) with a first-class honours result. Whilst undertaking her studies at TUD she worked full time within project controls on a live pharmaceutical construction project. Sarah continues to gain experience here at Carron & Walsh by supporting senior members of the team and Directors on a wide variety of projects from inception right through to completion. Since becoming qualified Sarah is working towards becoming a chartered quantity surveyor.

Declan Finnerty

Declan is competent in Cost Planning, Preparation of Tender Documents, Cost Management, Value Engineering and Final Account negotiations.

Declan has experience in Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Conservation and Fit-out projects in both the Public and Private Sector. Declan also has experience in carrying out Reinstatement Insurance Valuations.

Cormac Miley

Through a sponsorship programme within Carron + Walsh, Cormac is currently studying part time in Technological University Dublin to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics. Cormac completed work experience in 2015 with Carron + Walsh and decided to continue working with the company alongside his part time studies. This sponsorship programme facilitates Cormac in enhancing his career with Carron + Walsh whilst also enabling him to pursue his studies.

Richard Kearns

Richard joined Carron + Walsh in 2024 having acquired over 13 years construction industry experience in both Australia and Ireland. Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and Engineering in SETU and a M.Sc in Sustainable Energy Engineering also in SETU.

Richard has worked on a wide variety of projects in residential, educational, and civil areas. During his 5 years in Australia Richard held leadership roles in delivering projects in civil infrastructure, subdivisions, and housing development projects.

Upon his return to Ireland in 2015, Richard joined a Civil Engineering contracting firm. In this position, he has gained extensive experience liaising with clients and project teams and has gained a wide range of construction and engineering experience.

Richard continues to gain experience here at Carron + Walsh by supporting senior members of the team and Directors on a wide variety of projects from inception right through to completion.

Niamh joined Carron + Walsh in 2023 after gaining 10 years Project Management experience in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Her past roles involved project management, contract administration, employer representation from project inception to completion. Vera Higgins

Vera graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and English in 1997. She went on to further study Economics and achieved a Master of Arts Degree from University College Dublin in 1998. In 2005 she became an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute having successfully completed Parts 1, 2 & 3 of the AITI examinations.

Having graduated from University College Dublin Vera worked as an Underwriter with AIB Finance & Leasing, she subsequently joined PricewaterhouseCoopers where she undertook studies with the Institute of Taxation of Ireland, and continued working as Tax practitioner in the industry until joining Carron + Walsh.

Vera joined Carron + Walsh in 2016 in the role of Project Administrator. She brings to this role just under 20 years’ experience in the area of accountancy, taxation and administration.

Mandy is the Carron + Walsh Office Manager with 15+ years’ administration and office management experience. Mandy has strong organisational skills with a background in operations, finance and customer services.

Áine provides consultancy services to Carron + Walsh with respect to litigation services and civil engineering cost management services. Áine has over 30 years consultancy experience with specialist knowledge of Claim Avoidance & Management, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, Risk Assessment and Civil Engineering Infrastructure Projects.
